Show THEY SEEM DETERMINED TO HAVETROUBLE It will be remembered that some two weeks since two men and two women were arraigned in the Milford justice court for haviug liquor in their auto, and the men were fined $300 which the women paid. From Milford apparently the outfit went to Richfield, where they continued to make trouble for themselves. Dan Tarnasky, as one of the men calls himself, sold a Richfield sheep man a barrel of whiskey, receiving therefor there-for $1,000. The supposed whiskey was delivered and buried for the purchaser who thus sought to evade the bone dry prohibitory law of Utah. When exceeding thirst forced the sheep man to visit his buried treasure he discovered that the supposed sup-posed whiskey was only a poor quality qual-ity of water. While water is said to be king in this western country, Mr. Sheepman had no intention of paying pay-ing such large tribute for a single barrel of it. He wan thirsty, too, which did not improve his temper. Regardless of the fact that It was through no fault of his own that he had not become a lair breaker by having liquor in his possession, he declared the supposed bootlegger to be a swindler and swore out a warrant war-rant for Tarnasky on a charge of obtaining ob-taining money under false pretenses. pre-tenses. Tarnasky was arrested and locked in the jail at Richfield. Mrs. Tarnasky is said to have assisted her spouse In sawing his way out of jaiL The following is the latest sad experience ex-perience of the misguided couple: "Richfield, Jan. 17.- Dan Tarnasky Tar-nasky and his wife, who escaped from the county jail here, were found suffering with cold and nearly starved under a store in Sigurd after a search by officers of forty-eight hours. They had been there thirty-six thirty-six hours. Tarnasky was booked on a charge of obtaining money under false pretenses. He Is alleged to have solicited orders for a bootlegger bootleg-ger which were never delivered. When the prisoners were brought from Nevada several saws were found In the possession of Mrs. Tarnasky. Tar-nasky. These were taken from her, but the couple succeeded in getting possession of a saw while in jail and sawed through the bars. They were glad to get back to the warmth of the prison cell." Boozo Man Breaks County Jail Dan Tarnasky, notorious false pretense pre-tense booze vender, and his wife, who were confined In the Sevier county jail awaiting a hearing, made their escape Sunday night by breaking break-ing jail, and for several days and nights were hidden up among the skyscrapers and 'subterranean caverns cav-erns of Sigurd. They were located and taken back into custody and will likely have the due processes of Justice Jus-tice meted out to them. They obtained ob-tained upwards of a. thousand dollars dol-lars from thlrBty people In Sevier and never delivered the goods. Old Crow Is still beyond the State line. Sallna Call. |
