Show -IT1 REED TALKS Kansas City. Mo. July 5 The league lea-gue of nations was denounced as a "league of treason and covenant of national death" by Senator James A. Reed, who returned here today from San Francisco, where he was refused a seat as delegate to the Democratic National convention. Senator Reed, addressing a mass meeting, declared that he was pri-va.ely pri-va.ely assured by "grapevine messages" messa-ges" wliil-e his case was being heanl that (he-credentials committee of the convention would seat him if he would agree to keep silent in regard to the l-ague of nations on the convention con-vention floor, H-1 refu-ed to make such agreement which was responsible respon-sible for his being d-nv'-rl a - -at by ?he committee. In his address he denoting--' t!i Democratic convention at San Francisco Fran-cisco as "a convention aff.icteri v.-j-h international blind starrgers." Without personal reference to any- one, the senator declared there was little difference between the doctrine of the divine right of kings and the modern doctrine that a man elected to office, becomes thereby a leader, and that all who differ with him are c:communic ated and outcast." The Senator declared that "this ii.'orma'ion in retard to what the h-ague really ne-an-- is going to the people and they shall know the truth." I |
