Show LADIES ARE WORKING FOR NAVY BOYS Mrs. C. C. Sloan, president of the local War Relief Society, has received re-ceived a letter from Clara C. Wortn-ington, Wortn-ington, of Salt Lake City, chairman of the Supplies Committee of the Red Cross, requesting the aid of the Milford ladies in knitting and furnishing furn-ishing 750 sets for the sailors on board the battleship Utah. It is hoped that the ladies of Milford may be able to supply at least seventy of these sets. Following are the specifications speci-fications for the work: Wristlets Cast on 50 stitches; knit 2, purl 2 for 12 Btitches; sew up, leaving 2-inch 2-inch space for thumb 2 inches from top. No. 3 bone needles. Gray knitting knit-ting yarn. Mufflers Cast on 50 stitches for 10 inches; plain knitting for 5 8 inches. No. 5 celluloid needle. Dark gray knitting yarn. Directions for Knitting Sleeveless Jacket Cast on 80 stitches; knit 2, purl 2 stitches for four inches; knit plain until sweater measures 23 inches; knit 28 stitches, bind off 24 stitches for neck; knit 28 stitches; knit five rows on each shoulder, cast on 24 stitches; knit plain for 19 inches; purl 2, knit 2 stitches for 4 inches. Sew up sides, leaving 9 inches for armholes. No. 5 celluloid needle. Gray knitting yarn. |
