Show THE SUPERVISOR OF AGRICULTURE HERE Geo. J. Mohler. traveling supervisor super-visor of agriculture of the Union Pacific Pa-cific system, spent Monday in company com-pany with representative citizens, going over the new Milford water belt. He was shown the beet fields, alfalfa fields, potato fields and the wells and their method of lifting water, also the new state well rig which is now engaged in sinking a i 24 inch well on the Berkheimer place. While here he gathered a large amount of data which will be used by his company in their work of locating lo-cating ranches on the lands. Mr. Mohler expressed himself as ! very favorably impressed with what ne nati seen, sani tnat we had the land, water and transportation and all we needed now was farmers and that his company would try and assist as-sist in finding them He said it was not their custom to send out any one who wished to go to the farm, but to enquire into the adaptability and ability of the settler before locating him where the chances might be five to one that he would make a failure, whereas where-as a different man might make a decided de-cided success. They did not want any failure, as it hurt the community commun-ity and the settler and it hurt his company, who were anxious for successful suc-cessful farmers. He put considerable stress upon the fact that Milford had no literature litera-ture or advertising matter of any kind which could be sent out to prospective settlers, and urged that something be provided. He intimated intimat-ed that good roads and good schools were big inducements to offer the new settlers. |
