Show THE HOME DOCTOR It has r.iways been the policy of the Iron County llecor to encourage the habit of patronizing the hometown home-town merchant. There are many solid sol-id reasons for this policy, among il.eiu being the self-evident fact that ;he some man realizes that in dealing deal-ing with you he must meet you face to face times without number as the auys and years go by, and he would be a tool to omit any necessary effort ef-fort to please and satisfy you, as well as give you a square deal. On the other hand, the Chicago man's sole interest is your pocketbook, and if vou could actually buy as reasonably from him as from your home-town merchant, still you would be robbing rob-bing your community of its birthright birth-right of currency by sending it away. The same line of argument applies with even more force to your hometown home-town doctor. If he is prepared to care for your needs properly, it is unfair to him and to the community which he helps to maintain for you to patronize outside doctors who are violating the ethics of the profession profess-ion in poaching the home" doctor's territory. We have known cases and many of you have also, no doubt where traveling physicians have performed, per-formed, say a dozen operations in a I town and have gone to the next leav ! ing their patients without proper medical attention, and the patients have had to call in the local doctor to finish the work of the traveling : physician. It must take a lot of nerve on the part of the patient to call in the home town man after having hav-ing treated him so shabbily. In any other profession the home man would refuse to respond to such a call. But a doctor is above the ordinary or-dinary humnnfailings and goes wherever and whenever he is sent for. no matted what his personal feelings may be. Wife, children, home, food, sleep, money, his own personal health, nothing counts with ; a doctor when the call comes. The ! hard-earned money lost annually by ! overworked home town doctors in (bills that can never be collected ! would build enough battleships to :patrole the Pacific. To right-think-; ing citizens, the home doctor is a valued member of the family to whom he would not dream of dealing deal-ing dirt. To some others he seems i 'o be an alien enemy to be fawned upon in sickness and defied and de-. de-. frauded in health. It seems that . way. we hope it is not so. Cedar City is provided with doc-, doc-, tors and dentists with training, experience; ex-perience; ability and equipment to handle safely and scientifically all the afflictions of man. So it would hardly seem necessary nor proper to i hand over our cash to physicians from other towns. Patronize the ! home-town merchant, banker, doctor doc-tor and farmer.
