Show UTAH SENATOR HAS MINE TAXMEASURE TOOELE SENATOR WOULD FIX BASIS AT THREE TIMES THE NET PROCEEDS. Bill Introduced in Line with the Recommendation of the Governor In His Biennial Message to the Legislature. Salt Lake. A measure providing for the taxation of metalliferous mines in Utah on a basis of three times their net annual proceeds was introduced in the senate January 23 by Senator Archibald Bevan of Tooele. The bill was prepared and introduced in line with the recommendation of the governor gov-ernor in his biennial message to the legislature. This proposed measure Is called forth by the last general election. The bill now before the senate is designed de-signed to fix the "full value" on a basis of a multiple of three times the net proceeds of the mine to be assessed. The senate, under suspended rules, received and passed a hill by Senator Olson providing free matriculation for returned soldiers, sailors and marines in the Utah Agricultural college and the University of Utah. It also suspended sus-pended the rules and passed a bill by the judiciary committee providing that district judges shall receive mileage mile-age allowance when compelled to travel outside of their home counties to hold court. |
