Show BROWN BUSH'S EXPERIENCES Gievers, France, Nov. 25, 1918 Dear Brother Aaron: Your very welcome letter of November Novem-ber 3rd, received when I came in from my last trip, and I was glad, indeed, to hear from you once again, and to you are getting along O. K. I am well and have for the past several weeks, almost lived on my engine, but now it seems the efforts of the allies al-lies have been rewarded, and the Hun is finished, so far as fighting Is concerned. con-cerned. I am running one of the new Baldwin engines regular and I have a dandy. I can always say I have had one regular engine to .run anyway She is numbered the 981 and I want a picture of her to bring back if it is possible to secure one. We have beer over here now about six months, anc we hope it won't be many more mon the until we again reach the Statue of Liberty and the land of the free The 63rd RIgt. R. T. C, formerly the 53rd engineers, has the reputatior over here of having covered more miles of track, and of having had less trouble than any of the railway regiments of equal size In France. I have many times sat at the throttle when I was almost too exhausted to stay awake any longer, and often we have been on duty from 25 to 30 hours at a stretch, and not have much 'rest before starting, but. the thought has always been foremost with me, that we were putting the ammunition guns and material to the army at the front, and I consider that we have held up our end of the game. You 'can Judge for yourself what working over strange tracks and with people whose language you cannot understand under-stand would be like, but so far we have come through In good shape. I have not been in Paris yet, but -have been running Into Orleans, about 70 .mites from 'there, or 130 kilometers, as they call it in this country. Am sending Mr. Runswick and Brother Gould a card today. I have had many experiences since I have been In the army that I can tell you .better about when I see you than I could ever write. So with best wishes to all my friends, I am yours fraternally, BROWN BUSH w m a |
