Show HOSPITAL IS DISCONTINUED The temporary Ked Cross hospital that has been operated at the high sihool building for the past three weeks has been discontinued. This institution has rendered invaluable ' service and has set an admirable pre- ! cedent for future emergencies of this kind. Mrs. Pearson. Mrs. Gourley and others of the hospital management, manage-ment, deserve the gratitude of the 1 entire community for the services rendered and spirit shown. : The excessive cost of. maintaining such a large plant is the reason for discontinuing. The minimum expenditures expen-ditures for maintaining the hospital, amounted to about ?75 per day. The. receipts from twelve or thirteen patients pa-tients would be not more than $25. j leaving a deficit of $50 per day. This would have to he met by the tow--people. It was felt that this sum could not J)e obtained, in view of the excessive demand for war purposes. ' The hospital will be replaced by a system of home nnrsin?. The health j board has been authorized to secure ' the services of two nurses, whose time will be spent in attending patients in the homes. Other help will be procured pro-cured for domestic service, and so ; help care for the patients under the 1 superviso of doctors and nurses. ! w a c |
