Show From many divergent sources the report has come to the NEWS ! that a certain ball or dance, recently held in a local public hall, wasj conducted in a manner not exactly in accord with strict ideas of propriety pro-priety or a due regard for the conventions. In fact, if the said reports are true, the affair must have degenerated into a common orgie. On the other hand, a person who attended the dance in question, assured the NEWS that such reports were false, and, while admitting that the p irty should have dispersed soon atter midnight, instead of dancing' till Sunday morning, yet this person stcutly maintained that there was no impropriety or questionable conduct beyond this. ! The NEWS desires to be perfectly fair to all parties concerned, i If the reports of disorder and diegraoeful conduct are untrue, those spreading the same should be pulled up short, and the management of ; the dance, owes it to itself and to the public to make a clear state-; ment showing the real facts. The NEWS will gladly publish such statement. If, on the other hand, the above reports are true, the NEWS would not be loyal to its misalon, nor to the good repute of its home town did it fail to publicly censure any and all happenings which would bring reproach upon the ctrne of Milford. This town cannot afford to permit offenses against public decency or order. The NEWS trusts that the management of the affair under consideration j will feel free to use tue columns of this paper to publicly set these rumors at rest. TOB"EnHHnHiaacx ii a Hi |
