Show Protection Urged j For School Kids! i An appeal to both motorists and parents to cooperate in protecting ; school children on their way to and from school has been issued by the Utah Motorist association. I "Teachers, police and school safety patrols are working to pro-, tect the children against the dan-! ger of traffic," the club statement' said, "but to be fully effective,' their efforts must be backed up by 1 cooperative action on the part of , parents and motorists. ' "Upon parents rests the solemn responsibility to warn their chil-, dren repeatedly about carelessness in crossing the streets and to impress im-press upon them the need for cau- 1 tion at all times. Upon motorists rests the equally grave responsibility responsibi-lity to drive with the utmost care in the neighborhood of the school and along all streets where large numbers of children are on their way to or from the classrooms. i "Particular need for extra effort i this year is caused by the increas-l ed number of children who will be ' going to school and the greater j number of cars on the streets; as result the likelihood of accident is materially increased. - ! "With the aid of the school safety patrol and daily safety les-sons les-sons in the classroom, the fatality record f school-age children has shown steadily improvement over, a period of years. ' I "With full cooperation by teach-1 ers, police, the safety patrols, j motorists, parents, and the school j children themselves, this improve- j ment can be continued. Let it be our objective to make this the safest school year on record!" |
