Show Invitations For Legion Birthday All members- of the local American Ameri-can Legion have received individual indivi-dual invitations from Department Commander O. A. Wiesley to attend at-tend the 20th birthday party of the Legion, to be held at the New-house New-house hotel, Salt Lake City, Wednesday, Wed-nesday, March 15. The stale-wide celebration is sponsored by the state department for all posts in the state, according to Mr. Wiesley. Wies-ley. Kingsley E. Clawson is general gen-eral chairman of the event. The birthday party will be an all-day fete. Headquarters at the hotel will be open all day and' night on March 15. It will be j climaxed by a huge banquet in three dining rooms after a day of entertainment. Louis Johnson,! assistant secretary of war, Washington,. Wash-ington,. D. C, will be the principal speaker. Mr. Johnson, former national na-tional Legion commander, is a member of the national defense i power committee, and an author-' it y on national defense and Ameri-I eanism. At the banquet there will be broadcast an hour-leng naltionai hookup of screen, radio and stage celebrities in honor of the Legion, to be followed by .three floor shows of music, beautiful dancers, singers and entertainers. Only-active Only-active members of the Legion will be admitted to the banquet, which will be attended by all former department de-partment commanders, by commanders com-manders of Idah, Nevada, Arizona and Montana and by 31 of the original committee of 33 which founded the Legion 20 years ago in Utah. |
