Show Favorite of Empress Eugenie One of the favorites of Empress Eugenie of France, wife of Louis Napoleon, was an Ohio girl Louise Klrby Piatt Born in Cincinnati In November of 1826, the Buckeye lady accompanied her husband, Col. Donn Piatt of the famous Plntt family of Logan county, to Paris when he went to assume his duties as secretary secre-tary of the legation. In the court of Louis Napoleon, Mrs. Piatt attracted at-tracted considerable attention, soon becoming a close friend of Empress Eugenie. Mrs. I'latt died In Octo- ber of 1.SG4 at the Mac-o-chee castle i in Logan county the castle wherein where-in James Whiteomb Iiiley wrote "The frost Is on the pumpkin and the fodder's In the shock." |
