Show Antone Johnson Passes Suddenly; Funeral Monday Apparently on the road to rapid and complete recovery from injuries in-juries sustained in a recent automobile auto-mobile accident, Antone C. Johnson, John-son, 67, died suddenly Saturday morning from a blood clot in the circulatory system. Mr. Johnson had suffered a broken thigh and painful cuts and bruises two weeks previous when the oil truck he was driving for D. E. Stapley overturned over-turned west of Burbank, but he was doing well from these injuries, injur-ies, with his leg in a cast and he in good spirit, when his passing came without warning of any kind and as a severe blow to relatives and friends throughout southern Utah. Mr. Johnson, accompanied by Mr. Stapley, was returning to Milford from doing some paint-j ing of gasoline tanks in the west part of Millard county when the accident occurred, the truck failing fail-ing to make the turn onto the Burbank reservoir dam. Mr. Johnson, John-son, the driver, was thrown from the cab and onto the rocks with which the dam is lined, but Stapley Stap-ley escaped unhurt. j Funeral services were held i Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at j the Milford L. D. S. chapel, with Bishop Alvin H. Baker in charge. The speakers were Laurence Pet-; erson, who gave an obituary I sketch, and E. R. Moody, w.hoj told of some of the many good i qualities of the deceased as a family man aftd as a good citizen. A ladies quartet, composed of Mrs. George Moore, Mrs. J. M. Hughes,! Mrs. Vance Fisher and Miss Doris ; Hughe s, gave two numbers, "Sometime We'll Understand" and "I Know That My Redeemer Lives," and Bishop Baker sang a solo, "Abide With Me." The opening open-ing prayer was offered by Leonard Leon-ard Banks and the benediction by I Carlisle Gronning. Burial took 1 place in the Milford cemetery un-j der the direction of the Southern Utah Mortuary, with Laurence! Peterson dedicating the grave. Pallbearers were D. E. Stapley, J. M. Hughes, Kimmel Coon, Rob-; ert Tomsik, Carlisle Gronning,! and Harry Garfield. j Attendance at the funeral was ! one of the largest ever held in j Milford and the floral offerings were beautiful and profuse. - j Mr. Johnson was born in Eph-; raim, December 24, 1872, the son of Karl F. and Cena Fredrickson Johnson. He lived in Sevier county coun-ty until 23 years ago, marrying Mary .Sorenson in the meantime, the family coming to Milford in 1917. They had made their home here since that time, Mr. Johnson j having engaged in the oil and! gasoline distribution business, for many years being affiliated with the Hal Oil company and later with Paramount-Pingree and the Continental interests. Surviving him are' his widow i and the following children: Mrs.j Ruth Sanford, Preston, Idaho; Maurice Johnson, Caliente, Neva-! da; Mrs. Olive Root, Cedar City ; j and Mrs. Ardath Johnson, Mrs. Barbara Whitbeck and Richard Johnson of Milford. Also surviv-; ing are eight grandchildren and the following, brothers and sisters: , Mrs. J. H. Eriekson, Richfield; ! Mrs. R. M. Nielsen, Wendell, Ida-! ho; Mrs. J. B. Sylvester, Provo;! Hans Johnson, Salt Lake City;! and J. M. Johnson, Elsinore. J Among the close relatives from j outof town who were present for the sen-ices were Mr. and Mrs. i Johnson of Elsinore, Judge and; Mrs. Eriekson of Richfield and , Mrs. Sylvester of Provo, brothers , and sisters of the deceased; and James Sorenson of Elsinore, Mr. i and Mrs. Andrew. Hansen of Richfield Rich-field and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Levi ' of Salt Lake City, brothers and sisters of Mrs. Johnson. j |
