Show Firmage Leases Local Show House i Operation of the Victory theatre thea-tre by J. M. Hughes will cease next Tuesday night with the completion com-pletion of the Will Rogers feature, fea-ture, "Life Begins At Forty," and on Sunday, May 19, the house will be reopened under the name of the Firmage theatre, to be operated by C. L. Firmage, late of Los Angeles. The latter's father, W. A. Firmage of Beaver, has been operating the Beaver show house under the same name for the past year and has built show patronage up to a point that is highly satisfactory, satis-factory, proving his ability as a theatre man in doing so, and feels confident of making the local venture ven-ture a success. Previous to the reopening on May 19 the show house will be j thoroughly renovated and several j improvements added, and it is the intention of the new management ' to book high class features and , present them to the public at popular prices. These will be an- j nounced in the next number of The j News. j Mr. Hughes, during the more than two years he has operated 1 the Victory theatre, has gradually! a,MpH enninment and inroroved the bookings until Milford's show house has been the eqfl'al of some of the best in the state and superior super-ior to a great number. Starting out with the old disc sound equipment equip-ment which was so hard to synchronize syn-chronize satisfactorily, and with inferior sound fixtures, he proced-ed proced-ed from . one improvement to another until this high degree of excellence was reached, finally installing carbon arc lighting, ; which is responsible for the much j brighter tone of the pictures as I compared to the dimness of the lighting effects with incandescent lamps, which were powerful enough but extremely susceptible to current variations. In giving up the operation of the Victory theatre, Mr. and Mrs. Hughes join in expressing their i sincere thanks and appreciation for the very splendid support they have had from local movie fans whose patronage has made possible pos-sible the improvements made from time to time. |
