Show Civic Clubs Meet Coming Saturday Here At Milford ; The 1939 road program of the Associated Civic Clubs of South-i South-i ern Utah will be submitted to the ' board of directors of the organi-' organi-' zation for their approval at the 1 monthly meeting of the association associa-tion to be held here in Milford this coming Saturday, March 25. The program was drawn up at a meeting meet-ing of the road committee, headed by Russell Hawkins of Nephi. In charge of arrangements for the Milford meeting is L. A. Wy-naught, Wy-naught, first vice president of the organization and a director from Beaver county, aided by Sam Cline, 0. C. Koch and J. R. Mur-dock, Mur-dock, committee in charge of the banquet and entertainment; Val Yepsen and S. A. Zabriskie in charge of the dance; J. C. Root and D. E. Kirk in charge of reservations, reser-vations, and D. S. Williams, E. R. Moodv and J. M. Hughes in charge of publicity. Included on the 1939 road program pro-gram is a project to widen and straighten all main highways, particularly par-ticularly certain sections of U. S. highways 50, 89 and 91, and plans for early construction and improvement im-provement to a dustless standard for all interstate connections. Also on the program is a recommendation recom-mendation for completing high- ways from curb to curb within the i incoi'porated limits of cities and ,' towns, and the" beautif ication of I highways and adjacent property, j It is probable that much of this I work can be done in cooperation with the cities and W P A. Probably one of the most important im-portant road projects is the construction con-struction of a direct connection between the Natural Bridges national na-tional monument in San Juan county and national parks and monuments west of the Coloradp river. Several roads in each of the 15 southern Utah counties represented rep-resented by the organization are included on the program, except for Beaver county, wherein highway high-way 21 is the only one to receive recognition. Further, members of the road committee are recommending that all construction work and hard surfacing be done at as nearly the same time as is practicable on all roads and highways included on the program. .The association advertising committee, com-mittee, of which Reid H. Gardner of Cedar City is chairman, will submit its advertising program for 1939 at the meeting for the approval ap-proval of the board of directors also. The executive board will convene con-vene at 10 a.m. on Saturday and the open meeting is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m. in the I. O. O. F. hall with President James M. Sargent Sar-gent of Panguitch in charge of the business sessions. The banquet ban-quet and dance will be held Saturday Satur-day "evening and any unfinished business will be completed Sunday. |
