Show Club Members Make Inspection Of Camp D-G 35 Members of the Milford Lions club were guests of Captain James H. Walker, commanding officer of C C C camp D-G 35, Wednesday noon at a very fine hot dinner prepared pre-pared by camp mess personnel in a manner that left nothing lacking lack-ing for flavor and fine quality of cooking. Coming just before a holiday, several of the Lions were not able to be present, but it was all their loss as the meal and the other features were thoroughly enjoyed by those who were present. pres-ent. Following the repast, A. B. 01-sen, 01-sen, camp educational director, explained in brief but comprehensive comprehen-sive manner some of the objectives objec-tives of the work under his direction direc-tion and of his hope that the efforts ef-forts being made in behalf of the boys of this camp would meet with the cooperation of the townspeople towns-people and the school authorities, many of the men in this camp having a real need, for the educa-. educa-. tional opportunities that are being lined up. Following the talk by Mr. Olsen, a tour of the buildings was made under the guidance of Captain Walker, Lieutenant Einar Berg-strom, Berg-strom, and Leslie C. Koch, camp superintendent. The inspection proved a gratifying surprise to those who made a prior visit only a few weeks ago, before the camp was fully manned. Now everything every-thing is more "homey" and like the place every lad's mother would be glad to know her boy is enjoying. en-joying. Sleeping quarters, mess hall and kitchen are clean, orderly and airy, while commissary and supply rooms leave nothing to be desired. Perhaps the most impressive im-pressive features of all, however, were the hospital and recreation rooms. The hospital is a 'model of cleanliness and seeming efficiency, with accomodations for five patients, pa-tients, all properly segregated and protected from danger of contagions; con-tagions; while the library, recreation recrea-tion and lounging facilities make for perfect comfort and enjoyment enjoy-ment in the recreation hall. Saturday is to be observed at Camp D-G 35 as "open house" and it is hoped that local people in large numbers will take advan-take advan-take of this opportunity of seeing the camp in every detail. |
