Miss Madeleine Keough left Tuesday night on train No. 14 for a few days visit in Salt Lake. Mrs. Matilda Johnson, former Milford resident, was here from Salt Lake the fore part of the week, looking after business matters mat-ters and visiting local friends. Mrs. George Jefferson returned home Thurday from Salt Lake, where she had spent several days. V. F. Cottrell and Mrs. Willard Nichols have been among those on the sick list during the past week. Mrs. Al Cline of Cedar City called on local friends Wednesday while her husband was here on business. Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Luedtke and daughters of Los Angeles are visiting with friends and relatives in Milford. Bob Murdock and Martin Corn returned Wednesday from a few days fishing trip in the Beaver mountains. Dan Gillies returned Sunday morning from a six weeks visit in Los Angeles, the house guest of Mrs. Ella Sanborn while there. B. J. Vestal has been down from the Beaver C C C camp for a visit at the home of his mother, Mrs. O. R. Williams, in South Milford. Dr. R. R. Shannon went in to Salt Lake Friday evening of last week, Mrs. Shannon accompanying accompany-ing him home on his return Sunday. Mrs. Selba Dixon and three daughters of Payson spent several days last week at the home of Mrs. Dixon's sister, Mrs. George Rogers. Miss Ivma Fotheringham, popular popu-lar clerk at the J. C. Penney store, returned from southern California Califor-nia Tuesday after spending her vacation there. Miss Lois Williams motored to Beaver Wednesday, to meet her cousin, Miss Nelda Bills of Pay-son, Pay-son, who will visit for a week with the Williams family. Caleb Davidian, who is associated associat-ed with Norman C. Eckman in Seventh Day Adventist work in this locality, is returning Thursday Thurs-day from a brief visit with home folks and friends in Oakland, California. Cali-fornia. The Misses Margaret Cochrane, Beth Coleman and Mary Banks returned Sunday from vacation visits iri southern California. They spent some time at the San Diego fair and also visited: Cata-lina Cata-lina island. 1 Mr. and Mrs. Dern 0.-born re- turned last Friday from a weeks I vacation in Salt Lake and other Utah towns. Mrs. W. A. Mcintosh and children, chil-dren, accompanied by Mrs. J. V. Rochek and son, spent the weekend week-end at Cedar City with Mr. Mcintosh Mcin-tosh and Mr. Rochek. Arthur E. Clark, superintendent, of the American Telephone and Telegraph relay station at Milford, Mil-ford, left this week, accompanied by his family, for a vacation trip to Salt Lake and Pocatello, Idaho. Miss Laura Loeffler of Los Angeles and Miss Mildred Killam, who has been visiting in Los Angeles, arrived here last Thursday Thurs-day to attend the marriage of Miss Killam's sister, Miss Virgia Killam. S. G. Hickman, assistant cashier of the Milford State bank for several sev-eral months, has been called back to work as accountant and typist in the master mechanics office of the Oregon Short Line at Pocatello, Poca-tello, and left for that place last week. Attending the American Legion and Auxiliary convention at Richfield Rich-field last week were Theodore Kronholm, Milfords Legion post commander; Mrs. Rudolph Nielsen, Niel-sen, Mrs. Alvin Baker and Mrs. Leonard Bowen, Auxiliary delegates; dele-gates; and Mrs. Freda Outzen. Scoutmaster and Mrs. Owen W. Stoker and two children and Scouts John Clay, Don Christen-sen, Christen-sen, Owen Smith, Bud Williams, Donald Bird, Tommy Mastros and Stanley Hughes returned Thursday Thurs-day evening from a four days outing out-ing in Merchant valley. Dr. W. W. Cook, recently city and county physician at Ely, but at one time railroad and Horn Silver physician at Milford, is considering locating in Caliente, the second of two doctors to locate lo-cate there since the death of Dr. L. L. Bristol, a few weeks ago. Mr. and Mrs. Tom McKeon and children of Los Angeles have been g-uests this week at the W. A. Moore home on North Main street. The McKeons are former residents of Beaver county, and also visited in Beaver. On Sunday members of the two families visited Bryce canyon. Mr. and Mrs. M. Joy Christen-sen Christen-sen and family have been enjoying a visit from Mrs. Christensen's father, fa-ther, James Johnson of Preston, Idaho, Franklin county probate judge and one of the few Republican Republi-can office holders in Idaho who survived the Democratic landslide land-slide of last fall. Mrs. R. R. Kanert caught No. 14 Tuesday morning with the intention inten-tion of joining Mrs. Doris McClelland McClel-land of Long Beach, California, in a trip to Grand Junction, Colorado, Colo-rado, where they were to make a joint visit with Mrs. Matt Week-ley, Week-ley, who is rather well known to several people in Milford. Mr. and Mrs. Norman C. Eckman Eck-man have returned from a vacation vaca-tion visit with home folks in Los Angeles. They were accompanied here by Mr. Eckman's brother Earl, who spent a couple of days in Milford before continuing a va-i va-i cation trip which was to include a week in Sequoia National park. The name of Dean Johansen should have been included by The News in listing Vurl Frazier and Kenneth Sherwood as being among the ten best marksmen in the tests at the citizens military training train-ing camp at Fort Douglas, which these young men attended. Jo-hansen'a Jo-hansen'a name was erroneously given in the daily press as Johnson John-son therefore our omission when mentioning the honor coming to the other boys. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Jeffers and children, Jay and Vera, returned Friday from a two weeks vacation trip to 'cities in British Columbia and Washington state, finding the trip a thoroughly enjoyable one throughout. Several of Mr. Jeffers' Jef-fers' old friends from Nebraska whom he has not seen for 30 years or more are living in that section and the renewal of old acquaintanceships acquaint-anceships was one of the highlights high-lights of the trip, which was made by rail and boat. Mr. and Mrs. Otto Steenbock returned re-turned Wednesday from a five weeks motor trip which took them to Vancouver. Washington, and other cities of the northwest, to Glacier National park and to Jackson Hole. Wyoming. They spent a week with Mrs. Steen-bock's Steen-bock's sister in Victor, Idaho, and gained firsthand knowledge of the martial law conditions made necessary by the irrigation water disputes and the striking pea pickers. The complete trip of 4.300 miles was made without even a puncture. ! Mrs. W. G. White, accompanied hy Miss Winnie Gray, motored to Cedar City to spend the week-end. Popular Hanging Rock resort, 'above Minersville, will be th scene Saturday night of a big Barbecue Bar-becue dance something of a novel nov-el qy, with a free barbecue for all dancers. Bills for the affair are being printed by The News also a lot for another special dance next Tuesday night. Manager Wallace Outzen is determined to give dance lovers ample opportunity of enjoying themselves at this ideal open-air resort before weather conditions bring the season to a close. |
