Show Tintic Lead Mine Fast Approaching Rich Ore Bodies The Tintic Lead company apparently ap-parently is approaching its objective objec-tive at its King David mine in the Frisco district, according to information infor-mation telephoned Monday to Salt Lake by Karl G. Link, mine manager mana-ger of the King David, to Paul H. Hunt, the company's general manager. iMr. Link said the raise which the company has been driving in the footwall of the east-west fissure fis-sure that traverses the property has broken through a large quartz porphyry dike and emerged into limestone. In one of the fracture veins extending off the main vein, he said, he has opened up four feet . of ore, mostly silver-lead carbon- j ate, with quartz, iron and mangan- ese as the gangue minerals. He said he believed he was within j three or four feet of the footwall. i The position, Mr. Hunt estimated, is about 1150 feet below the sur-; face outcrop. The company is working two shifts of 12 men each and has been engaged in this piece -of develop- j ment for more than a year. From the bottom of the 750-foot j triple-compartment shaft the company com-pany drifted north 3500 feet, cutting cut-ting a number of porphyry dikes in the last 1000 feet. Failing to find ore by drifting along the vein after cutting it on the 750 level, the company in September began raising in the footwall. Conditions have been improving steadily ever since, Mr. Hunt said, with scattered scatter-ed lots of galena and chalcocite appearing ap-pearing in the limestone until it was cut off by the largest of the pbrphyry dikes encountered earlier on the 750 level. In a recent report to stockholders stockhold-ers of the Tintic Lead company, Mr. Hunt wa-ote: "The system of fissures which dip into the monzonite stock, and which were the channels for the ore solutions which made the Horn Silver ore 'body, traverse the King David property for a distance of about 7500 feet. This fissure system sys-tem which we call the . reciprocity shear zone, is from 80 to 150 feet wide, parallels roughly to the southern contact of monzonite instructive in-structive and for more than 4000 feet of its length the entire fissure breccia is almost completely replaced re-placed with vein quartz and the oxides of manganese and iron, together to-gether with streaks and bunches and disseminations of the oxides and carbonates of lead, zinc, and copper. "In addition, for a long distance along this shear zone, we find the limestone 'beds are mineralized in the hanging wall of this great fissure fis-sure with disseminations of lead and zinc sulphides throughout the rock and in many places almost a complete replacement of the limestone lime-stone beds by these sulphides. This mineralized hanging wall represents repre-sents an area from 200 to 600 feet wide and some 4000 feet long. "The ore in these lime-bed replacements re-placements is of good grade, and as soon as the raise now being driven reaches these 'beds, we are certain to ship considerable ore." |
