Show 1 MMMMM I Attorney and Mrs. Sam Cline left Wednesday for Salt Lake City, where they will attend the state bar convention and banquet. The Pierian club met at the home of Mrs. Roy White sr. Tuesday Tues-day night. After the meeting dainty refreshments were served to Mrs. J. R. Muruock sr., Mrs. J. D. Johnstcn, Mrs. William Dawson, Mrs. Frank Doble and Mrs. Ed Bardsley. I Mrs. George Moore and children left Wednesday night for a few days visit in Salt Lake. , Mis Florine Farnon was up from Las Vegas over .Saturday and Sunday, visiting with her friend and former schoolmate, Miss Caroline Caro-line Clay. Mrs. Roy Flrmage returned home Sunday from a few weeks spent in National City, California, at uhe bedside' of her mother, who has been seriously ill. The Misses - Freda and Rosebta Koch, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. 0. C. Koch, are here from Colorado Springs, Colorado, and will spend the Christmas holidays at home. The Big Four Bridge club was entertained at the home of Mrs. Lloyd Lee Wednesday evening. These present were Mrs. J. C. Jef-fers, Jef-fers, Mrs. Grover Cuddy, Mrs. B. E. Hutching, Mrs, J. D. Johnston, Mrs. George Moore, Mrs. Joe Han-Ion Han-Ion and Mrs. Bob Price. The high score prize was won by Mrs. Price and consolation by Mrs. Johnston. Thanks to the members of the Milford Volunteer Fire department, depart-ment, who secured and placed the large tree, and to the Telluride Power company, who have done the stringing of lights, Milford's Main street presents a gala holiday holi-day air and, in ample time, this year, to foster a fine Christmas spirit. It is understood that the firemen secured enough smaller trees to furnish one for each of the light posts in the business district dis-trict for decorating by the nearest business esablishment, but the idea was frowned down on account of the narrowness of the street. Miss Elaine Kirk, a '38 graduate of the Milford high school, who is attending the is. Y. U. this year, has been chosen as one of 'the alto solo singers in the "Y" oratorio, ora-torio, "The Messiah", which . will oe sung Sunday at the L. D. S. slake tabernacle in Provo. Mrs. William Cochrane was hostess host-ess to the Five Suit Bridge club at her home Monday night. Mrs. Rudolph Nielsen received the club prize, Mrs. Frank Kuchenmeister the house prize and Mrs. J. M. Hughes the consolation prize. Others present were Mz-s. J. M. Williams, Mrs. J. C. Smith, Mrs. D. S. Williams and Mrs. W. Carlson. Carl-son. A number of friends surprised Mrs. Frank Kuchenmeister last Wednesday night, the event being her birthday. Bridge was enjoyed during the evening with Mrs. J. P. Holm receiving the woman's high score prize, Frank Kuchenmeister men's high score prize, Mrs. Otto Steenbock the traveling prize and Mrs. Kuchenmeister the consolation consola-tion prize. Others present were Mrs. William Morris and Mr. and Mrs. Abe Fotheringham. Mrs. B. T. Walker entertained her bridge club members and guests at the Harold Cline home Tuesday evening. Those present were Mrs. J. M. Hughes, Mrs. E. R. Moody, Mrs. LaMar Outzen, Mrs. George Fernley, Mrs. Leon Cline, Mrs. E. L. Mary Thompson won the prize for the best amateur part and Marlene Mills received a prize for the game of donkey. Santa Gaus cookies marked the covers for 12 little girls. Williams, 66, farmer and ' stockraiser of Milford, was injured last Thursday afternoon when he fell on a stairway at the state capitol, suffering shock and bruises. bruis-es. He had been discussing matters mat-ters with tax commission employes on the ground floor and was going to the floor below when the accident acci-dent occurred. An almost continuous round of calls on his time for various meetings meet-ings has kept L. A. Wynaught, president of the Milford town board of trustees, in various parts of the state the last two or three weeks. As a member of the state committee for the New York World's fair, he was called to Salt Lake last week and followed1 this with attendance, this week, at the municipal league meeting; to be followed this week-end by the regular monthly meeting at St. George of the Associated Civic Clubs of Southern Utah. The Hotel Milford, operated for the last two years by the Milford .Hotel company, with L. A. San-ford San-ford as the moving spirit, is now being operated by the Wonderland Hotel Management, Incorporated, with L. G. Redford as local manager. man-ager. Mr. and Mrs. Redford took active charge a few days ago and express themselves as being most anxious to serve local people as well as the .traveling public in any way possible. They have complete faith in Milford's possibilities and will be found, we believe, some of our most enthusiastic boosters. |
