Show Funeral Is Held At Garrison For I Pioneer of West Impressive funeral strvbts were held December 5 at Garrison for Mrs. Hariit.. Parsons Gandy, 54, Lahtornia, Nevada and Utah pioneer, pi-oneer, who died the preceding Saturday Sat-urday at the home cf her daughter, daugh-ter, Mrs. Mollie Smi.h, in Garrison. Garri-son. The services were ably conducted con-ducted by Sylvan Warner of Baker, Bak-er, with singing under the direction direc-tion of Mrs. Earl Yersin. ' Included among :he musical numbers were a "vocal sol; by Mrs. Russell of Lly and a quartet, "Whispering '. Hope," by friends. There were many floral offerings from friends. : Interment took place in 'the Garri-I Garri-I son cemetery. . Mrs. Gandy was born in Ar-.: Ar-.: kansas December 2, 1844. She crossed the plains with an cx cart tram as a small child with her par-: par-: era.s, the family first going '.to i California and residing in Sacra-; Sacra-; mento, Placeiille and Liberty. Later, Lat-er, they located in Carson City, Ne-rvada, Ne-rvada, where she married Isaac ; Gandv in lS59. They lived in Sal i Lake City for years and later in Fillmore. In the early '70s Mr. and JVIrs.-Gandy moved to Snake valley, where the former acquired large land interests, Gandy, a small i community in western Millard i county, being named for him. Mr. Gandy died in 1906 and Mrs. Candy Can-dy had been an invalid fcr some .20 years. Despite her age and phy--sical condition, she had retained her mental faculties in a wonder-. wonder-. ful manner until about a r-k before her passing, when she sank ! into a coma from which she never regained consciousness. Fcur daughters were born of the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Gandy, only one of whom, Mrs. Smith, survives the pioneer couple. There are, however, nine grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren. |
