The population of Beaver county had changed but very little in ten years time and showed a decrease of only three persons, according to a census release of June 13, 1930. A copy of the "Milford Times," published 2G years before had been resurrected from the archives of the Milford News in June, 1930. This paper had been published by C. T. Harte and contained many ii.teresting items. Among the advertisers ad-vertisers were I. V. Sawyer, one of the leading general merchants; J. T. Tanner operated a meat and green market; the Forgie hotel was the leading hostelry ard two saloons occupied prominent advertising adver-tising space. Among the news items was that the San Pedro railroad was rushing construction, the rails having been laid as far as Moapa and the road was soon to be finished to Las Vegas. The new town of Newhouse was on a boom; and the Telluride company was ready . to start work on a $400,000 power plant in the Beaver Bea-ver canyon. On June 8th, 1930, a family reunion re-union had been held in Minersville to help celebrate the 100th anniversary anni-versary of James McKnight sr. At the regular meeting of the local Business and Professional Womens club election of officers for the ensuing year had been held. They were Mrs. Annie J. A baby girl had been bora to Mr. and Mrs. Beauford Eaton at Thompson. Mrs. Eaton was formerly form-erly Elreta Patterson of Milford. v |
