Show $16,000 In Prizes To lie Awarded At Ogden's Show More than -1000 cattle, sheep and swine from over the nation and parts of Canada will be shipped ship-ped to Ogdon livestock show, January Jan-uary 7 to 13, inclusive. Advance notices indicate nearly every Utah hamlet will be represented repre-sented in the 2i cla.-se.-, of the show, in addition 'o entering the Utah-I ntermountain See 1 show, the Ogd'm Coliseum Poultry show and the Ogden wool show, held in connection with the annual event. The show is sponsore 1 each January to stimulate the livestock industry and to bring before 'he public progress being made in the breeding, sale and care of domestic animals. This year over $19,000 in premiums will Ik- offered in addition ad-dition to special cash and other awards offered by national breeder's breed-er's associations and business firms. j President Geoirge .S. Eeels pointed out recently that the quality qual-ity of livestock in his area has advanced remarkably through the c-ilucational effect of the Ogden show, the Utah state fair and the county arid other expf sitions. "Our ordinary herds of today", he said, "would not contain any animais as poor as many winners of 10 or 17 vears ago. If the ex perience cf last January is any criterion, the junior exhibitors ana contestants can be truthfully said to be "stealing the show". Several instances grand champions in the junior division stepped inl'o the op, n cla-es and defeated the entries of the senior exhibitors. Last year there were represented represent-ed in the livstock judging contests 2G 4-H teams; 38 Future Farmer teams and five college teams. In addition, 27 poultry and 26 crop judging teams of F F A chapters of Utah and Idaho were in action. The show, held at a time wheni the country's business is running j at slack speed, becomes the center of interes- v r-ly for live-; )'.:. j poultry and s.ed officials, but for meat dealers and the housewife. A variety of educational features fea-tures tegethir with what promises to be a large number of individual exhibits, indicate the seed show will be an excellent one.
