Show Red Cross Will Have Swim Week Nyles Christensen, field representative repre-sentative for the American National Na-tional Red Cross, was in Milford May 10 and 11, discussing local Red Cross problems with the Milford Mil-ford chapter officers and other townspeople. A Red Cross chapter meeting was held Monday night at which time a report was given on the amount of money the Milford people peo-ple contributed to the chapter for the flood relief fund for the Ohio and Mississippi floods. The report shows that the fund raised more than doubled the quota assigned by the Red Cross to Milford. This fine showing places the Miltford chapter right at the top with the 'best chapters in the country in their response to the Red Cross appeal for funds to meet the needs of people suffering from these floods. Mr. Christensen extended the thanks and appreciation of the National Red Cross to the local chapter officers and the citizens of Milford for their complete cooperation co-operation and support in helping the Red Cross meet the needs in this great disaster. In return for the fine support the people of Milford have given the local Red Cross chapter the past year it was decided that the chapter should sponsor a swim campaign this summer at the local swimming pool. The town officials are making the pool available and the chapter is bringing in a Red Cross expert for one week to teach young and old the fundamentals of proper swimming and also Red Cross life saving methods. The tentative dates for this campaign .ave been set for June 28 to July 3, inclusive. Later announcements will give full particulars. Everybody Every-body interested in swimming and water recreation is urged to keep these dates in mind, as it is de- sired of the chapter that every possible person shall take advantage advant-age of this instruction. j |
