Show Adamsville Girl j Dies of Injuries i In Car Accident Bertha Griffiths, 10-year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Griffiths -f Adamsville, died in the Cedar City hospital early-Wednesday early-Wednesday from injuries sustained sustain-ed Monday when she was struck by an automobile near her home. Suffering a fractured skull, a compound com-pound fracture of the left leg and internal injuries, the little girl had never regained consciousness following the accident. The automobile, a coupe m-Mlel, was driven by George C. Rodgen of Milford, who was accompanied by his wife and the latter's . fa- ther, Charles Cloward of Payson. Mr. Cloward was being taken to Beaver to take the bus to his home after visiting in Milford a couple of weeks. The car could hardly have been going fast at the time of the accident as Mr. Rdgers haa skwed down to check his time with Mr. Howard's watch just before be-fore the girl was noticed in the road. Apparently becoming confused con-fused as she first became aware ol the car, the little girl turned squarely into its path and was struck even though Mr. Rodgers turned into the borrow pit in an effort to avoid the accident. Mr. Cloward was left in Adamsville Adams-ville and Mr. and Mrs. Rodger;-rushed Rodger;-rushed to Beaver, Mrs. Rodger holding the unconscious girl on her lap. Arriving there, a doctor informed them that the iniuries should not be serious. Even though the girl was later taken to Cedar City, her death came as a severe and unexpected blow. Absolved of ; blame for the accident, following an investigation by Sheriff Niels Jensen and County Attorney Theodore Theo-dore Bohn, the Rodgers family ha-, nevertheless been grief-stricken by the accident, with Mrs. Rodger:, being placed under the dolor's care following belated word of the girl's death. |
