Show Local Doctor Is i Called For Service i Entry into army service on the jpart of so many Milford boys has I brought the war into a large num. j ber of homes; sugar rationing, and I the necessity for tire economy have affected an even larger por-! por-! tion of the people; and now Uncle j Sam has come along and tag-ged Dr. R. R. Shannon for active army service! A member of the United States army medical corps reserve fbr several years, the need for physicians phy-sicians and surgeons in the armed services has finally demanded Dr. Shannon's entry into active ser-vide ser-vide despite the plea made for his deferment as the only doctor available for western Beaver county. He is leaving this weekend week-end for Fort Douglas, but arrangements ar-rangements have been made for Dr. J. W. Bergstrom . of Cedar City to take his place. The latter took care of Dr. Shannon's practice prac-tice during the month's ' vacation from which the Shannons just recently re-cently returned, so local people are fairly well acquainted with him. Instead of residing in Cedar City and flying or motoring here as. he has done heretofore", however, how-ever, it is understood Dr. Bergstrom Berg-strom will now make his home in Milford and spend one or two afternoons a week attending to the needs of Cedar City patients. Though he has specialized in ear, nose and throat trouble for some time, Dr. Bengstrom has a good many years of general practice to his credit and comes to Milford with an enviable reputation throughout all southern Utah. Dr. Shannon came to Milford in the fall of 1934, succeeding Dr. C. R. Parrish, and has made a fine record and gained hundreds of friends during his period of service ser-vice in Beaver county. In addition addi-tion to a large office practice, he has operated the Milford hospital in an eminently successful manner. man-ner. He was a member of the Milford. Lions club for several years and1 served one term as president. Dr. Shannon is the father of two little daughters and they, with his wife (the former Miss Katherine Kirk) will accompany him to Salt Lake City and make their home there, at least for the present. ...
