Show Grade School Notes FIRST GRADE We had a happy Christmas va- j cation. Santa Claus was good to us. We are glad to be back in school. Herbert Coon. Dale Sanford came back to our school. He went to school in California. Cali-fornia. We are glad to have him j back. Gene Black. j We have some new books. They are about Jo-boy. They are about Spot too. They have pretty pictures. pic-tures. We like the new books. Shirley Smith. We made some snow men. We cut them out of white paper. We made the hat, eyes and arms ot black paper. We made the nose and mouth red. Dorothy Baudino. FIRST and SECOND GRADES We have a new boy in our room. He is in the first grade. His name is Fred. Donna. We have some gold fish. We feed them every morning. We take turns feeding them. There are some snails in the fish bowl, too. Some are big, and some are little. One snail had some baby-snails. baby-snails. The snails keep the bowl clean. We like to watch the fish and snails. We have new books. We like to road them. We read a story about Haj.py. Happy is a dog. He chases chickens and pis'S. Mother Hen chases Happy. We like our new books. First Grade. SECOND GRADE We had library reading today. We went up to the front of the room and took turns reading. 1 j liked Lucile's story best. Richard. We are making Indian pictures. We will have tepees, Indians and designs. Dolores. We are going to make a frieze about Indians. We have just divided di-vided into groups. Each group has something to do. Leah. THIRD GRADE We are studying about stars. We have learned about the big' dipper and the little dipper. Colleen Coleman. FOURTH GRADE ' Our Bulbs My teacher brought some bulbs j to school. The names nre tulips, narcissus and hyacinth. We went down to Max Baxter's old place to get the soil. Some of the boys on the committee made a box to put some of the bulbs in. Gordon Jensen is chairman of our committee. commit-tee. Valjean Williams. Our Study Our class is studying the ocean. We have to give reports every morning. We have a large globe of the world. We wind where the oceans and islands are located. We also study the things that is in the ocean, and the things that come out of it. We learned about the coral plant. One girl in our r"om hfls a string of coral beads. Pearls grow in oysters. Cameos are made from shells. Some children arc going to make posters, and some nre making books. Dorothy Cam-penu. Cam-penu. FIFTH GRADE We are studying about Georgia, .South Carolina and North Carolina. Caro-lina. General Oglethorpe settled Georgia in 17.'!'!. He did it for tin' men who owed debts. If they did not pay they would be put in jail. He had a very good friend who died in prison so he asked the king if he could have lnnd over in America. I!y thai, way he helped people very imirh. We are all sorry to have him go. There are 30 pupils in the room now. Barbara Bar-bara Williams. SIXTH GRADE Bats Bats are our most remarkabl.' mammals because they can fly. Some people think bats are evil because they come out at night. They cannot see very well in the day time, but they can see in the night. They go out in the night and eat a lot of night, insects. They help us in that way. In the day they go to a dark corner and sleep. When they sleep they hang by their feet. They have wings :hat are very light.
