Farmers will be given a wheat acreage allot-r allot-r or.l 12 per cent lower than their : veia-e acreage for the last ten Obviously the allotments will not bold during the 1938 planting st-a-" n; the only limit on wheat f.crt-age this year will be that the ftal acreage of wheat and fallow and of soil-depleting crops must rot ettceed the total soil-depleting base for the farm. Allotments will, however, be in effect during the 1931 season, with farmers i'-ing paid 12 cents a bushel on the norma! production of their allot'.. al-lot'.. d acreage. There will be a i er.alty also for seeding less than .'9 per cent of the alloted acres. Potato allotments and payments be set up only in the ten commercial com-mercial potato counties of the state: Btx Elder, Cache, Davis, Millard, Morgan, Piute, Salt Lake, Utgih. Washington and Weber. Potato growers normally seeding 1'. ss titan three acres will be exempt from the p tato 'allotment provisions. Allotments will;- be aij .ut 7 per c.nt less than the average ave-rage acreage and payment will be :ra ie at the rate of three cents a b. -he! on the n.rmal production of ;he allotcl acreage. Payments also will be made for proved soil-building practices. A system ef calculating the com-) com-) arative values in units of the various practices has been designed, design-ed, and soil-building goals will be -et up for individual farms. Soil building practices include: c. nstruetien of terraces with outlets out-lets and of dams and reservoirs for erosion control; treatment of land with commercial phosphate fertilizers, straw waste, green manure, and cover crops.; seeding of legumes and cf timothy and red top mixtures; contour listing and contour seeding of small grain crops; maintaining of a stand of forest trees; control of noxious weeds; reseeding of pasture lands; and restoration cf non-crop pastures pas-tures by restricted grazing. County committees will have individual farm allotments calculated calcu-lated soon, but Mr. Funk points out that farmers can figure their own allotments by studying the Crop history of their land and following fol-lowing the formula suggested by county agents or members of county committees. |
