Dr. R. R. Shannon, general chairman for Milford, has completed com-pleted the local organization setup with the appointment of Mrs. J.. D. Ryan as vice-chairman and Attorney At-torney Harold Cline as secretary-treasurer, secretary-treasurer, for the local committee. As is plainly printed on the tickets, 70 cents of every dollar realized from the Birthday ball is to remain in the local community for the rehabilitation of resident sufferers from infantile paralysis, under the direction of the local committee, while the remaining 30 cents of every dollar will be turned turn-ed over to the national committee for delivery to the president, to be by him presented to a national commission for infantile paralysis paraly-sis research, soon to be appointed. Another means of raising funds for these dual purposes has been inaugurated by the national committee com-mittee in cooperation with the telegraph companies. For 25 cents paid to your local Western Union office, you may send a birthday greeting to the president. Though the 25 cents is paid by you to the company, the message is carried free by the Western Union or Postal Telegraph companies, since all of the funds paid for this purpose pur-pose are to be turned over to the national committee which in turn, will remit to the local committee 70 per cent of the total amount collected for messages originating in Milford, thus adding to the amount of funds to be realized for these community and national purposes. pur-poses. o |
