Show Field Day Planned At Desert Station The first field day at the Desert Branch Experiment station, located a short distance off highway 21 and about 50 miles west of Milford, Mil-ford, will be held Friday , and Saturday, Sat-urday, October 16-17 and a general invitation to attend is extended to the general public. The Desert Experiment station is operated by the forest service, through its branch known as the I Intermountain Forest and Range Experiment station. The meeting is for the purpose of allowing ! stockmen and technical workers ; and others interested in the winter range, an opportunity to view on the grounds the results of experi- i ments being conducted at this sta- tion. Among the projects to be reviewed are: (1) comparative vigor of perennial range plants; (2) range revegetation by managed man-aged grazing; (3) relation of watering places to forage production; produc-tion; (4) replacement of palatable native forages by less valuable weed species; and (5) effects of drouth on range revegetation. The group will assemble at Milford Mil-ford at 8:30 o'clock Friday morn-' morn-' ing October 16, and proceed under ; direction to the Desert Range Ex-j Ex-j periment station, stopping at inter-I inter-I vals to observe forage conditions i and to inspect research projects. Lunch will be served at the station j headquarters after which part of 1 the experiments will be inspected I during the afternoon and part of 'the following morning. An eve-; eve-; ning meeting will be held Friday at 8:00 p.m. 1 Visitors are welcome to spend ; Friday night at the station. There j is shelter and board bunks in un- used C C C buildings for everyone, but only a limited amount of bed-j bed-j ding is available. Therefore, all who can do so conveniently should I bring blankets. Meals will be provided pro-vided at the station for a nominal charge. |
