Show Attend Meet Of Future Farmers LaVell Parsons, adviser to the Milford chapter of the Future Farmers of America, accompanied by Don Elmer, Bud Baxter, Jess McKnight, Richard Thompson, Thomas Stewart, Ray S. Fisher, McCoy Williams, members of the chapter, and Alvin H. Baker, attended at-tended the state convention of the Utah Association of the F. F. A., which wras held at the Utah State Agricultural college Sunday, Monday Mon-day and Tuesday, August 25, 26 and 27, under the direction of Professor L. R. Humphrys, state adviser of the F. F. A. Convention delegates were . housed on the college campus in army tents which were erected for the occasion, and agricultural teachers tea-chers and advisers were housed in the college dormitories. Governor Henry H. Blood, Secretary Sec-retary of Agriculture Henry A. Wallace and former Secretary of Agriculture Williani Jardine ar-dressed ar-dressed the boys in the closing session of the convention Tuesday evening. "The Future Farmers will have a greater vision of the problems of agriculture than I had when I was a boy," said Secretary Sec-retary Wallace, "and we must look to these boys for a major contribution in solving our problems". prob-lems". He advised the boys to "continually lift your vision not only to the physical hills of home but to the hills which rise in series ser-ies around the entire world". With the proverb, "A little leaven leavens the whole lump," 'Governor Blood pointed out what the results of the F. F. A. convention conven-tion may mean to the future of agriculture in the state of Utah. Secretary Jardine emphasized the need of character education and the elimination of selfishne.-s in our dealings with men. Approximately 400 delegates from practically every county in the state, and from chapters in southern Idaho, were represented at the convention, which opened Sunday night in the college auditorium audi-torium with an address by Dr. Adam S. Bennion. ' During the session, contests were held in livestock judging, crop fudging, and poultry judging. |
