Show CHRISTIANSCIENCE "Metals and Immortals" is the subject of the lesson-sermon to be read by the Christian Science Society So-ciety in Milford on Sunday, November No-vember 13. The Golden Text is: "If any man be in Christ, he-is a new erea-i ture; old things are passed away; behold all things are become new" (II Corinthians 5: 17). Among the Biblical citations are the following: "Jesus answer-' ed and said unto him (Nicodemus), Varily, varily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is bom of the Spirit is spirit" (John 3: 3, 6). Correlative to the citations are the following from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Scrip-tures" by Mary Baker Eddy: "So-called "So-called material existence afforded no evidence of spiritual existence and immortality. . . . Understanding Understand-ing the nothingness of material things, he (Jesus) spoke of flesh and Spirit as the two opposites, as error and Truth, not contributing contribut-ing in any way to each other's happiness and existence. Jesus knew, 'It is the spirit it hat quick -eneth; the flesh profiteth nothing' noth-ing' " (p. 356). |
