Lewis, local civil 'engineer, lias been appointed to supervise a W P A municipal water improve-, nient. project at Cedar City and is making that city his headquarters. M. J. Chnstqnsen and sons, Don and Vern, were accompanied to Salt Lake Friday afternoon by Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Hughes and Mrs. Carl Goodwin. Mr. and Mrs. Hughes returned home Sunday in their own car which had been in Salt Lake for repair work. Mrs. Mollie F. Hanks of Los Angeles was visiting and attending attend-ing to business affairs in Milford the fore part cf the week. Quite a number of local women friends of Mrs. Hanks, who is a former resident of Milford, visited with her until train time Tuesday afternoon. after-noon. Under the direction of the W P A a recreation program will be carried out this winter at the local high school. This class will be directed by Frank Thompson, assisted by one of the high school teachers, and will be held on Monday and Saturday nights from 7 to 10 o'clock. Everybody over hsyh school age is invited to attend. at-tend. These classes are free ot charge. Mrs. L. G. Clay was over front Fillmore the fore-part of the week, supervising the renovation of the ; old Tanner place direotly north of i the bank building, preparatory to j the Clays making their home there. She and the two girls will ! return to Milford the last of this ! week. ! The Pierian club met Monday f night at the home of Mrs. O. C. I Koch. After the lesson was given ! a dainty lunch was served to Mrs. Vena Wilson, Mrs. Roy White sr., Mrs. Frank Doble, Mrs. William Dawson, Mrs. J. R. Murdock sr., Mrs. John Low, Mrs. J. D. Johnston Johns-ton and Mrs. L. G. Clay. The Milford Ward Relief society will hold their annual bazaar Weis nesday, November 16, in the L. D. S. church. Exhibition and sale of articles begin at 5:00 p.m.. Dinner will be served beginning at 6:00 p.m. with extra dishes of pie, pudding, pud-ding, cake and soups on sale. A program is scheduled to follow. Mrs. J. R. Murdock jr. entertained enter-tained the Saturday Afternoon Bridge club at her home with Mrs. William Cochrane winning the higu points prize, Mrs. Thomas Gerrard the high honors prize and Mrs. J. C. Jeffers the consolation prize. Others present were Mrs. George Fernley, Mrs. J. M. Williams, Mrs. C. W. Cates and Mrs. M. H. Pool. A ski course is being constructed construct-ed up near the summit of the Granite pass road and it is expected expect-ed to be completed within the next two or three weeks. The work is being undertaken as a WPA project pro-ject and includes the construction of a ski jump, which is being workisd out Sn cooperation with local C C C boys. The county commissioners com-missioners and L. C. Koch, superintendent super-intendent of the local CCC camp, have promised their cooperation in keeping the Granite pass road up to the course, open throughout the winter so that local sport3 enthusiasms enthu-siasms will be able to reach the site by auto. |
