Show Some Decreases ! In Point Values Ration point values fur September Septem-ber generally show decreases for meats and increases for canned and frozen fruits, according to Mrs. E. L. Smith, community service ser-vice member of the Milford war price and rationing board. One of the most important increases in-creases in point values was that of raising crcami-ry butter from 10 to 12 points per pound, the community member s:.id. Also for the fii-st time, has O PA made a distinction between farm and creamery butter, assigning the value cf G points per pound to the f., rm product. Another important change was the rvstoration of dried prunes, raisins and currants to the processed pro-cessed foods rationing list. These litem were t..ken off the ration charts some months ago wi-.en hot weather threatened spoilage to the remainder of the 1941! crop. They wert restored to rationing as the l'.U.'l crop moves to market. "The changes in point values r fleet changes in the food supply situation." the community service nwmlx-r sJiid. "Thus, generally prevailing d'H'reaes of one to two points per pound in meat-s show-s nn iir.provement in the supply of meat caused normally at this time of the year by the usual heavy marketing of range meat, animals. The higher point value for creamery cream-ery butter reflect.s a more re-; strirted supply of the item than 1 in the past." j The- war food administration has found that, the consumption; of butter near producing areas: was no great at ten points per pound that serious sliortnges were (Continued on Inst pngc) j j Point Values (Continued Irom first page) created in distant markets. The board member stated that this increased in-creased demand along with the production decrease of 5 per cent under August estimates accounted i for the butter point value increase. in-crease. In the case of processed foods, for which blue stamips are used, the point value increases for canned can-ned and frozen fruits are accounted account-ed for by unexpected consumption of these commodities while anticipated antici-pated stable demand for canned i. nd frozen vegetables allowed! maintenance of most point values of these items at the previous month's levels. |
