Show Mrs. James McGarry Dies In California Mrs. Elizabeth Twitchell McGarry, SO, one of the first white American girls born in California but for about 20 years a resident of Milford, died suddenly July 5 at Hemet, California, Cali-fornia, and was buried in a River- side, California, cemetery following services in that city. She had been visiting at the home of her daug-hter, Mrs. S. G. Wilson, and had appeared j to be in good health until she passed peacefully away of natural causes due to her age. Mrs. McGarry was born March 2, 1854, in San Juan county, California.' the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ancil Twitchell, the former being a member mem-ber of thefamous Mormon Battalion. The family moved to the Beaver section sec-tion in 1858, locating near what is now Manderf ield, north of Beaver. Marrying James McGarry, the yoing couple moved to Milford, where they homesteaded the Horton and ! Whittaker 200-acre ranch property , northeast of town, living here some 20 years. Mr. McGarry died several j years ago and the widow had spent much of her time since then with j her children. i Surviving Mrs. McGarry are the j following sons and daughters: James C. McGarry of Riverside, California; E. C. and Sheridan McGarry of Salt Lake; Shermian McGarry of Spanish Fork; A. E. McGarry of Los Angeles; Ange-les; John C. McGarry of Mariposa, California; Mrs. Edna Westman of I Riverside and Mrs. Lillian M. Wilson 'of Hemet, California. There are 23 living grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. |
