Those under arrest are George J. Rowe, 36; Al Young, 56; Francis Wakeman, 37; Thomas Smily, 2S; Robert A. Timmons, 37; Chance Orr, 37, and William Boyle, 56, all from Los Angeles and nearby cities. The investigation of the alleged ring started when officers said they overheard Smiley and Timmons discussing dis-cussing forged bonds as they stood . on a street corner. They were taken in custody and the arrest of the others oth-ers followed. The arrests, the officers said, led to the location of the counterfeit plates, which were hidden under a rock pile near the flood control channel chan-nel in Long Beach. Officers said they later located more sets of plates usder construction, engraving para-j phernalia and a printing press, together to-gether with S1500 in bad bills, at the; home of Rowe. |
