Show ANOTHER GOOD MEASURE Approval of the "lame duck" amendment to the national constitution con-stitution by more than sufficient state legislatures has been given to make it become a governing organism. The "lame duck" measure mea-sure is one that was entitled to its almost immediate acceptance ' as a forward step once the people had been given an opportunity to express themselves. And still it took a twelve-year fight in Congress to get it in a position for legislators to ratify it. Senator George Norris of Nebraska sponsored the "lame duck" measure, he carried the fight for its enactment through a period of twelve years. -His is a victory well won. And now he proposes another measure that is of equal value, one that should meet ready endorsement of congress. The measure provides for the abolishment of the electoral college, making possible the direct di-rect election of presidents. n |
