Show MINERSVILLE SCHOOL NOTES The following assembly program was given by the Freshmen: High school song led by song leader, Ida Richards. Prayer, June Davis. Song, "Adorable," sung by Shirley Fotheringham, accompanied by Mr. Isaacson. Reading, "The Pieqe that Robert Spoke," lleva Hollingshead. Piano solo, Bertha 1 Carter. Musical reading, "The Lady Who Lives Next Door", Mary Carter, accompanied ac-companied by Mr. Isaacson. Basketball Much interest has been shown in basketball this year. Regular practise prac-tise period is from four to five o'clock. o'-clock. The following boys have reported re-ported regularly: LaMas Corbridge, Neal Carter, Marshall Hollingshead, Garth Jones, Clark Dotson, Max Gressnian, Howard (Marshall- Wells Roberts, Dell Hollingshead, Clarence Rollins, Arshal Lee, Victor Davis. All players are back to school from last year except two. They are planning plan-ning an exceptional year in basketball. basket-ball. ah the high school and the faculty regret the loss of one of our outstanding out-standing students, Betty Goodwin who passed away Sunday night after an illness of two or three days. She had been ill 'with yellow jaundice, which was followed by a hemmorhage that caused her death. She also had a weak heart. Betty was a Sophomore Sopho-more in high school and was a very active student, having taken a leading lead-ing part in the opera last year. She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Goodwin, and the following brothers and sisters, Mrs. Harold Smith, Summit; Mrs. Hunter Gibson, Gib-son, Enoch; Mrs. Stanley Harris, Clark Goodwin and a twin brother, Bobby, of Minersville. The faculty and the students of the high school send their deepest sympathy to the family. o |
