Show MILFORD BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL WOMEN REPRESENTED AT STATE CONVENTION AT OGDEN Milford Business and Professional Womens Club was represented repre-sented at the state convention of Business and Professional Women Wo-men at Og'den May 23 and 24 by Mrs. Vivian Hunter who returned here Monday to report on the activities of the delegates dele-gates at the convention and to state that her sister-delegates received re-ceived her warmly, pleased that so small a club as the Milford organization should be such an active unit and should be able to send a representative to the convention. It was announced at the convention,-! according to Mrs. Hunter, that the Milford Club is the only one in Utah that is affailated with the International Internation-al Federation of Business and Proes-sional Proes-sional women. An excellent program giving ample scope for both social and business activities ac-tivities was arranged at the convention, conven-tion, Mrs. Hunter reported. At ten o'clock Saturday morning the delegates dele-gates began registering, at one o'clock the board of dirertors met at luncheon, lunch-eon, at two they held their business meeting and at four the nominating committee went into session. Banquet Saturday evening was given over to a banquet at the Hotel Biglow Ballroom which was followed by a reception re-ception in honor of Miss Martha Con-nole, Con-nole, legislature chairman of the National Na-tional Federation of Business and Proessioal Women's Clubs who was honor guest at the convention. Following Fol-lowing the reception, the Ogden club entertained the delegates at a midnight mid-night frolic in Ogden Canyon. Sunday's program consisted in a breakfast at the Hotel Biglow, a memorial mem-orial service at ten o'clock, a business meeting at eleven, election at noon and a Trout and Chicken Luncheon at the "Hermitage" in Ogden Canyon ac two o'clock. Miss Laveta Wallace of Logan was elected president of the State Business and Professional Women, Mrs. Edna Montgomery of Heber City, vice president, pre-sident, Miss Alta Thurber of Richfield, Rich-field, recording secretary, and Mrs. Eleanor Giddings of Ogden, treasurer. Local Report A report of the Milford Club's ac tivities for the past year written by Annie J. Atkin, president of the local club, appeared in the convention bulletin bul-letin and reads as follows. "We began the social season by giving giv-ing the opening ball at the Arion Hall. "We have clothed a number of families fam-ilies this winter, and bought groceries grocer-ies for those in need of food. "Gave a program at Milford High School which was well received, and were asked to give aother. It was the cause of opening their eyes to the resourcefulness and greatness of the B. P. W., as well as showing them we have a "Sunny Side" to our organization. organiza-tion. "We had the pleasure of entertaining entertain-ing the movie star, Miss Loise Fazen-da, Fazen-da, last November at the Atkin Hotel. She gave us a wonderful talk explaining explain-ing the life of the stars when not on iocation. Miss Fazenda as a welfare worker gives a great deal of her time and money to assist the unemployed. She thinks the B. P. W. is a wonderful wonder-ful club. Ours was the first one she ever heard of or attended. "We have our own Glee Club sponsored spon-sored by Miss Veronica Davis. They always receive encores galore and put everything over "par excellence." "The Public Relations Dinner is still the topic of conversation. Representatives Represen-tatives from all civic and commercial clubs were present. Every organization organiza-tion reported its accomplishments for the public good. The wonderful results of this dinner was the civic unity realized, and the resolve that all are to work together for the public interests in-terests and make a better Milford. The B. P. W. was highly praised for launching this dinner, and three big "Hurrahs" were given for the B. P. W. Clubs. "On our guest night October fith, a talented artist, Miss Dorothy Murdock of San Francisco gave a talk on art and displayed about twenty-five paintings and drawings. Musical selections sel-ections and readings were given and delicious refreshments served. Four new members were the result. I "We gave a very enjoyable Christ-i Christ-i mas banquet December loth. Each guest drew a gift and at the conclusion conclu-sion we had a theatre party. "On January 17th we gave a midwinter mid-winter Ball to help swell our treasury. It was very successful. "We have given two fashion shows i and vaudevilles. "We belong to the International i Federation." |
