Show HELPER MAN HELD FOR PHYSICIAN'S DEATH Dr. S. D. Cologne, prominent physician physi-cian and surgeon, died at Salt Lake City on Saturday evening last. Death came as the result of an automobile accident with one Tony Stamatakis of Helper. The impact was so very severe that the doctor was thrown twenty feet from his car. He suffered rupture rup-ture of the lungs, several fractured ribs and the pelvis bone, besides internal in-ternal injuries. When officers were called to the scene by residents of the neighborhood the physician was lying unconscious under a tree. Stamatakis, Stamata-kis, who speaks little English, was unable un-able to give a comprehensible account of how the accident happened. The injured man in the meantime was rushed to St. Mark's hospital. Stamatakis, Stam-atakis, instead of reporting to the police, po-lice, disappeared. Later he was found and placed under bond of five hundred hun-dred dollars. This was, however, before be-fore the seriousness of the condition of the injured physician was known. Stamatakis is to. be rearrested and charged with manslaughter. He is well known at and around Helper as a gambler. He was released from jail at Salt Lake City last Saturday a few hours before Dr. Cologne passed away. At the time he was charged with reckless driving. Later he furnished fur-nished five hundred dollars for bonds. Price Sun. |
