Show EPH SMITH TAKEN AWAY BY DEATH Passed Away Early NVednesday Morning ; was 'an Old ' Time Resident. Eph Smith, who - was for many years a resident of Milford and Beaver County, passed away: at hi Milford home early Wednesday morning. morn-ing. His death was first noticed by his wife; he had evidently been dead for two hours. Heart trouble was given as the cause- -of his passing away. Mrs. Smith had risen in tha night to obtain some nVedicine for him but at the time had felt tha need for no alarm. ' Mr. Smith had been noticed as being in falling health for some time. To his friends, he had seemed dispirited and in poor health since the . death of his son, Morris, in a . railroad accident last year, . .Ephr Smith was .the son. of Mr. and Mrs. John Andrew Smffch. . .He, spent his boyhood in .Sacramento, California, Cali-fornia, but came to Beaver, county in his youth, and had. lived here for the balance of his life. He was about-seventy about-seventy years old. at the time of his death. His father settled in the Beaver Bottoms near Black Eockj on a ranch, known for. a. long time s the Smith Ranch. Later giving up farming, the father moved . with his family to Fr.sco, which was at that time a bustling town. Eph turned to the occupation of cattle raising and stock shipping at this. time. He drove stock in to the town for shipment and alsp supplied the mining town with meat. About twenty-five years ago, he moved- to Milford." During his active life, he had built up many friendships 'of long standing. stand-ing. Cattlemen all, over the county knew him and liked him. Particularly bv those who may be classed as "old- timers" was he' esteemed highly. All of them had a good word for Eph. He was good nat'ured'in' his business and social affairs and it can be said that he never picked a quarrel with anyone. .
