Show HELPER EXTENDS RAILROAD YARDS S. L. Tracey, superintendent of the Salt Lake division of the Denver and Rio Grande Western railroad was in Helper last Tuesday inspecting I the construction work for five new track lines being laid In the local yards. The work is under contract to Hamilton and Gleason of Denver and was commenced two weeks ago. Since that time rapid progress has been made on the grading, with a large stretch of land to the east of the present yards already graded. Extension of the tracks begins from the coal chutes and reaches to the point of mountain lying southwest south-west of Helper. The five new track units of 100 car capacity each will cover a total area of 150 feet to the east of the present yards. With the completion of the improvement work September first Helper will have the largest railroad yards of any point on the system between Grand Junction, Colo., and Salt Lake City. The increase In the Helper yards was necessary for the efficient effici-ent handling of heavy coal trains routed out of Helper daily and the transporting .of fruit and freight traffic from both the east and west j coasts.
