Show FISH AND GAME CLUB WANTS MORE MILFORD MEMBERS ORGANIZATION HAS EXTENSIVE PROGRAM OF FISH REARING A drive is underway to extend the membership of the Beaver County Fish and Game club more to the west end of the county instead of having such a preponderance of membership from Beaver. To arouse interest in the organization among Milford nim-rods nim-rods and fishermen, Harry Diehl, of Beaver, an officer of the club since its inception ten years ago, visited Milford Wednesday. With him was Grant Tolton, who pleaded the club's cause before members of the Lions Club. Although the club has functioned very successfully, its success has not been all that it should be, these two men said. Propagation and regulation of wild life cannot be entirely done by the state alone, and to supplement supple-ment this, money from membership dues in the club and labor donated by members aids the state fish and game department in maintaining hunting and fishing as recreations in Beaver county. With Puffer's Lake and the mountains moun-tains visited constantly by ..Milford people, the club is in hopes that its membership can be increased by a direct campaign in this end of the county, inasmuch as it is felt that the aims of the club are common to sportsmen of all the county. Three rearing ponds have been put in by the club, and 185,000 small trout will soon go from the hatchery into these ponds. There they will be kept until they are as big as the law permits them to be caught, and will then be released into fishing waters. The hatchery will again be filled with eggs and the same rearing process will take place. It is believed that a hundred thousand or so of these fish will do more to provide good fishing than a million small fingerlings would if dumped into the streams. In order to bring about county-wide county-wide co-operation and to make Beaver Beav-er county the greatest recreational center of Utah, membership in the club will be solicited at once. The membership fee is a dollar, and .cards and buttons have been left on sale at the Milford Pharmacy, where fishing and hunting licenses are also obtainable. |
