Show CAN SAVE INTEREST ON TAX ASSESSMENT " There will he found in this issue the notice that the Town Board of Milford Mil-ford has levied a tax and assessment on the sidewalks recently completed 'n the southwestern part of the town. This notice is important to' every property owner involved, as setting roith the final amount of the assessment assess-ment price for the completed contract The previous notices published were -norely estimates of the cost of the sidewalking. It might prove interesting, as a business proposition, for the property owners affected by this assessment to know that while the ordinance levying the tax allows for five annual an-nual installments, yet the entire sum can be paid at practically any time after the ordinance becomes effective, ir.d the property owner, by paying in full, may save the interest charge allowed by statute, which is seven percent. The Town Board could have thrown all of the costs of the sidewalks against the property owners, but instead in-stead absorbed the costs of the intersections inter-sections by the town itself. This saving sav-ing to the property owners amounted to a figure of about six hundred and fifty dollars. The method of financing on the part of the board members has been sagacious saga-cious throughout, with individual costs being minimized wherever. possible. |
