Show LIONS MEETING IS MOST INTERESTING IN SEVERAL WEEKS LADIES ATTEND AND HEAR DISCUSSION OK LIVE TOPICS Members of the Lions Club invited their ladies to the regular weekly luncheon held Wednesday at the Union Un-ion Pacific. A company of thirty-six attended the meeting, presided over by President Al Cline. Entertainment consisted of songs; accompanied by music on the mandolin man-dolin and guitar by Joe Kinney and Sam Cline. Speeches were made on the humorous order and much serious seri-ous business wan also held, on topics of importance to the civic well-be-;ng of Milford and Heaver County. Altogether, the meeting was one of the most fruitful of any held in mahy weeks. 13,000 Mile Trip IL S. Carlton, Milford Lion recently recent-ly returned from a seven-months' motor tour of over thirteen thousand miles, spoke on his trip. He discussed discuss-ed agriculture, prohibition and politics, politi-cs, as he saw them on his tour. He also gave a very comprehensive re-Dort re-Dort of the Lions International convention, con-vention, held last month in June, and to which he was a delegate. Air Developments Geo. D. Barr, an airway engineer of the Department of Commerce, Airways Air-ways Division, gave some news to 'he club regarding aviation developments develop-ments here, which are of great significance sig-nificance to the town of Milford, and which are described in another article arti-cle in this paper. I To Hire School Nurse Again H. E. Bowman read a complete report re-port of the activities of the county Red Cross nurse in her duties in Beaver county the past school year. Statistics were given which cowrecl every branch of her work, and the report was very satisfying. Mr. Bowman Bow-man stated that the Board of Education Edu-cation would hire a school nurse again next year, but that she would be in temporary residence in each tow-n of the county until her duties in that locality were completed. Much time was lost last year, he said, in traveling over the county. Airfield L. G. Clay reported that the airfield air-field must be cleared to the satisfaction satisfac-tion of visiting government officials. Roads A discussion of the proposed im-pros'ed im-pros'ed road to Panguitch was joined join-ed in by several men, with varying sentiments expressed. Geo. Jefferson Jeffer-son gave his idea of Milford's position posi-tion in the matter of the proposition, as well as giving a discussion of county road improvements which he felt were coming and which were needed. The disreputable condition of Milford's North Main street called for his comment. The luncheon period extended over an hour and a half. |
