Miss Nicholas is one of the recognized rec-ognized authorities on dress and style in the United States. Although a native nat-ive of St. Louis, her career in fashion work s tarted in Chicago when she was asked to do style articles for one of the leading millinery trade magazine, and this quickley led to her appointment as associate editor of this publication. She next became advertising manager of the largest wholesale millinery house in the west, having charge of twelve departments, de-partments, and also editing the magazine mag-azine which this company published. Next she was called to the editorship editor-ship of the Millinery Herald, published publish-ed by ' the Millinery Jobbers' Association Asso-ciation of the West, and successfully successful-ly conducted that publication for several years.
