Show POOR ECONOMY In refusing to appoint an expert to inspect the meat and the dairy and agricultural products of Beaver County out of a desire to save the expense of his salary, the county commissioners have been penny wise and pound foolish. That the commissioners should want to save the peoples' money is commendable but the methods they have chosen to accomplish that end will result not in a staving but an ultimate waste. W.hen the boulder dam construction gets under way the hundreds of men employed on the project will create a new market mar-ket for poultry, milk and meat produced in this county and this county would be the logical source of supply because of the qase of transportation. However, Beaver county will be barred from supplying that market because its products are not inspected before be-fore shipment. The commissioners have sp.ved one hundred- fifty dollars a month salary that they would have to pay an inspector. But how much have they lost to the people, of the county in profit that would come from sale of their products to the new market being created at Boulder Dam ? |
