CGDEN Short courses in feeding feed-ing of dairy cattle, under the auspices au-spices of the Weber county farm bureau, were started in North Og-den Og-den and Harrisville recently and wiil continue through the week. PLEASANT A meeting will be held in Social hall soon, with local dairymen in attendance, to discuss the feasibility of erecting a cheese factory In this locality. M. E. Nelson, a cheese factory expert, ex-pert, will attend, to present plans and data. WASHINGTON The federal radio commission recently proposed a sweeping change in wave assignments as-signments of sixteen stations in thirteen cities, including KSL in Salt Lake, in order of eliminate interference in-terference between clear channel broadcasting stations. CEDAR CITY Following the discovery dis-covery of rabies among the dogs of Cedar City, the city board of health issued an order recently demanding de-manding that all dogs In the city be inoculated by February 15 and restricted to the owners' premises until March 5. Dogs not Inoculated by that time will be killed. OGDEN As the result Sunday of an accident to a young buck deer which had wandered from Its haunts In the mountains east of the city down the Ogden river to a point near the Wilson sugar factory, fac-tory, deer meat will be served at the annual jollification of the Weber County Fish and Game Protective Pro-tective association early in March. Bullen of Richmond, one of Cache county's representatives In the state legislature, legisla-ture, who is attending the special tax revision session, has received word that a cow in his herd at Richmond has made a record, in Cache county tests, which probably prob-ably has not been equaled In Utah. The cow produced 122.3 pounds ot butterfat In 30 days. PRICE A bumper sugar beet crop is expected in Carbon county i this year, due chiefly to the severe winter, which resulted in the destruction de-struction of pests. More than 1700 acres of beets have been contracted for already by sugar producing firms. The latest contract, announced an-nounced by the Holly Sugar com. pany. is for the cultivation of beets on more than 600 acres. LOGAN Cattle for the seventh annual sale of the Cache County Breeders' association have been selected se-lected by the committee which included in-cluded President Andrew Nelson, Secretary Foster Reese, Clarence Mikle and County Agent R. L. Wrlgley. This committee has spent the last three days inspecting and selecting the cattle. The sale will be held March 1 at the county fair grounds. DUCHESNE A group ot prominent promi-nent Salt Lake mining men and geologists has organized the Uintah Copper company for the announced purpose of developing extensive copper deposits located from five to ton miles southwest of Duchesne. VERNAL Organization ot the new company, following closely on resumption ot development work in the Old Dyer copper mine, I twenty-six miles north of Vern.it, is taken to indicate the possibility of a new smelter being built in that section. |
