Show UTAH SHEEPMEN WIN GRAZING FEE CASE The Nevada state supreme court ruled last week at Carson City that the Nevada law which imposes a grazing fee on livestock owned by non-residents is unconstitutional. The supreme court . justices affirmed a case on appeal from White Pine county, where the district court held that county officials had collected, illegally il-legally a grazing fee of $1155 from the Bertagnole brothers, Utah sheep growers. The tax was paid under protest. The action was brought following the levy in the fall of 1930, and was financed by the Utah State Wool Growers' association. The case was heard in the district court a year ago and resulted in a victory for the Utah growers. Many Utah sheep are turned on the winter range in Nevada annually annual-ly and have been taxed 15 cents a head. Nevada sheep grazing in Utah have escaped taxation. |
