Golden rod and black-eyed susan In baskets and vases graced the reception room; dahlias, Zinnias Asters, delphlmans and larkspur profusely pro-fusely decorated the dining room. Mrs. Clarence Grlmahaw and Mrs. Erma Gillies assisted the hostess In receiving. Mrs. C. C. Sloan and Mrs Harry Wood presided at the tea service ser-vice and were assisted In serving by the Misses Jayne Sloan and Phyllis Levi. During the afternoon the following follow-ing musical program was presenteo by Mrs. McGarry. Miss Estella Ne-beker, Ne-beker, and Miss Smurthwalte: Vocal solo, Trees, Mrs. McGarry, Piano, Miss Nebeker; Group of English En-glish Ballads, Mary Smurthwalte. Sixty guests were present. AAA Pierian Club The first meeting of the Pierian club for the fall and winter month? was held Monday evening at the, home of Mrs. Wlllard Nichols. The lesson on the American Government Gov-ernment was conducted by the hostess; hos-tess; Mrs. E. L. Ferguson gave an article ar-ticle on "Labor", which was interesting interest-ing and well chosen. Refreshments were served at the close of the evening to Mrs. E. L, Bardsley, Mrs. L. G. Clay, Mrs. E. L. Ferguson, Mrs. Roy White, Mrs. J) M. Hughes, and the Misses Bateman and Wilson. Next meeting will be held September Septem-ber 23rd with Mrs. Freda Outzen. A A A A V -v "V Bridge Club " Mrs. W. M. Vorhees entertained her bridge club Tuesday evening aV her home. The score prize for point? was won by Mrs. J. E. Wilson; for-honors, for-honors, Mrs. E. L. Ferguson. A very delicious luncheon was served ser-ved after bridge to the Mesdamee Gene Kirk, Rosa Palmer, A. C. Jensen, Jen-sen, Gene Pltchforth, W. L. Vorhees, E. L. Ferguson, and J. E. Wilson. Club Discusses Federation The Business and Professional Women's Club held its regular meeting meet-ing at tho Hotel Atkln Monday evening, even-ing, with President A. J. Alkin presiding. pre-siding. Many Important questions were discussed. Including the Internatlon-which Internatlon-which has been brought about by many Good Will tours of American women. The International Federation Federa-tion will aid greatly in making foi world peace and friendship. It was decided that the club would entertain in the near future with a theatre party and luncheon after. Many new members are joining th club and many big things are plann ed. I : Birthday Party In honor of the occasion of Mis Golda Pectol's 17th birthday ami versary, a group of young peopl.? gave her a party at the home of John Kirk on Wednesday evening Sept. 4. Dancing and singing was enjoyed ami refreshments were served late in the evening. Those present were as follows: Josephine Carter, Merle White, Dorothy Doro-thy Venable, Verda Clements, Delia Kirk, Bernice Qulnney, Eva Coleman, Golda Pectol, and the Messrs. Chas. Faulkner, Bud Hamilton, Frank White, Frank Carter, Roldo Turner and Delmer Kirk.
