Show J. C. PENNEV CO. - OPENS AT ST. GEORGE The J. C. Penney Co., a nationwide nation-wide chin-tor institution, will open for business in St. George on October Octo-ber 1, or before that date, If facilities for their housing can be completed. A leao contract was signed in Salt Lake Suturday whereby the company leased the went half of the Pickett building for a period of five years. The store will carry the regular Penney Pen-ney line, including dry goods, clothing cloth-ing and notions. The work of extending the building build-ing back commenced the firt of the week. That part of the building build-ing to be used by the new store will have an extension of 24 feet, while 32 feet will be added at the rear of the part occupied by the Pickett Lumber company. Both extensions will be one story, but will be built so that a second story may be added later. The furniture department of the Pickett Lumber company will be transferred to the addition now under un-der construction, the rear wall and partition will be torn out, and the lower floor of tbe building will present pre-sent to the public all the facilities of a city department store.
